A protective pipe for water lines

Laxsujan Paramarajah completed his vocational training as a plastics processor at NOVOPLAST AG in Wallbach this summer. He submitted the best extrusion work in Switzerland.

Laxsujan Paramarajah experienced a special day recently. The newly graduated plastics processor was honored in Aarau by KUNSTSTOFF.swiss, the Swiss Plastics Industry Association, for delivering the best extrusion work in Switzerland in the course of his final examination.

"He was very committed and very interested in the subject-matter", Miro Konrad, Head of Extrusion and the responsible supervisor at the company, was vocal in his praise.

Laxusjan Paramarajah spent the first years of his vocational training studying injection molding and later continued with extrusion technology. He found extrusion technology particularly appealing. "Yes, I like this way of producing things," says the 19-year-old.

In his final assignment, he developed a protective pipe to be used in water lines. Laxusjan Paramarajah had to do a lot of work to ensure that everything went right during production. He explains that factors such as screw speed, vacuum, temperature and pressure are important in order to achieve a good result." The interaction of these factors has to be just right," he explains. The trainee had quite a few points to consider when preparing, setting up and starting the machine. "It is a complex process," confirms Miro Konrad.

He and Urs Blatter, trainee supervisor at NOVOPLAST, are pleased that Laxusjan Paramarajah decided to complete a four-year vocational training program as a plastics technologist right after finishing his two-year program as a plastics processor. "In the past, we only provided training for plastics technologists. For about ten years now we have also had a two-year vocational training program for plastics processors, and it is very popular with trainees," explains Urs Blatter. NOVOPLAST AG currently has a total of three trainees. And what does Laxusjan Paramarajah have to say looking back on his nation-wide recognition? "It was a lot of fun!"
